Centenarian preaches at local church

The congregation of the Lighthouse Worship Center in Beaumont was treated to a special sermon Sunday morning, preached by 101-year-old James Doggette.

Doggette has been preaching for more than 60 years. He makes about 10 appearances a year in churches in the area. The pastor of Lighthouse says Doggette is healthier than most 40-year-olds he knows.

12 News HD asked Doggette what's the secret to staying healthy.

"Stay young on the inside. There's no age in him (God). This body ages, but he lives forever. And my spirit lives forevermore," Doggette said.

Doggette was born in 1911. He is originally from Mississippi and currently lives in Groves.
