A former Port Arthur Memorial High School employee has been sentenced to six years in prison after she was charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

According to Emma Jean Hardy's indictment,  which was handed up in February, police say an officer saw her performing oral sex on a student in a car parked near the Port Arthur seawall.

The second-degree felony charge could have landed Hardy a 20-year prison sentence.

Hardy received her sentence Monday before 252nd District Court Judge Layne Walker.  She was taken into custody immediately after the sentence was read in court.

Hardy will not be eligible for parole.

Hardy was arrested Sunday January 8, 2012 following her indictment. She posted $75,000 bond and was released from jail the following Monday.  She has been free until Monday morning.

According to 12News HD file stories, the teen involved was charged with class a misdemeanor public lewdness.

Hardy worked in the school's registration office.
