Sinton City Council Meets to Discuss Interim City Manager

SINTON (Kiii News) -

Sinton City Council members held a workshop Saturday to discuss the appointment of a interim city manager.

"We just had a workshop to discuss the executive session, and no action was taken until Tuesday," Sinton Mayor Eloy Lopez said.

The mayor said that this coming Tuesday, they expect to have their regular scheduled City Council meeting and from there they will have the name of someone to fill that position.

Just this past week, they held a special meeting where the City Council voted on firing City Manager Ira Knox, Jr.

Earlier in the year, there was a movement by some Sinton residents who circulated a petition to try and vote the mayor and two City Council members off the seats. Sinton City Attorney Juan Perales' request for copies of that petition was granted.

Perales sent the petition to both the Attorney General's office and the City Secretary.

"I did tell her and the attorney general that it was my opinion that the petitions needed to be disclosed," Perales said.
