Police Say No Investigation into Dead Kittens

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Three dead kittens were found in the backyard of an abandoned house near Holly and Greenwood on Saturday. Two of them were dismembered.

The kittens were found by a neighbor who wants to remain anonymous. He said it did not look like they were mauled. When he called the police, they went out and investigated, taking pictures of the kittens, but they did not pick them up.

Neighbors wanted answers, and on Monday, police said there is no investigation. They think it might have been another animal who killed the kittens.

"At this point, there's no investigation to follow up on," said Commander Todd Green of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "No witness, no leads that a person intentionally killed these animals or mutilated the animals."

One concern for neighbors was the fact that Animal Control had not picked up the animals.

Animal Control said that, on the weekend, they only have one officer on call. He usually responds to all the calls that are coming, like bites or dangerous animals. It's hard for that officer to pick up all the dead animals and answer other calls all over the city on the weekend.

One tip police want to give pet owners is to be sure you keep your pets where you can see them in your yard to prevent anything like this from happening.
