CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A Flour Bluff woman escaped serious injury after her home caught fire in the 800 block of Behmann St.

The blaze broke out just after 3:15 p.m. Fire officials said the fire started in the attic and made its way to the garage. Because of the location, fire crews had to cause some damage to the home to get to it.

"Most of the smoke that we had was from burning insulation," said Battalion Chief Frank Rodriguez of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "So we were able to put it out. We caused a little damage looking for the fire. Had to pull a lot of ceiling looking for it, but we were able to control it fairly quickly."

The damage to the home is reportedly fixable. As for what caused the fire, that is still under investigation.
