The seventh annual Racial Justice Contest is underway here in the Coastal Bend, put together by the local YWCA. Tina Buttler with the "Y" stopped by the KIII studio.
The contest is open to students, 6th grade through college. Participants could receive a prize of up to $100.00 by answering the question, "How can our country move forward in race relations?" Entries can be submitted in essay format (200-500 words) or video format (3 minutes maximum). Entries will be judged in three different age groups -- middle school, high school, and college. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group.
The deadline for entries is December 1, 2012. Awards will be presented at the 9th annual YWCA Racial Justice Forum January 21, 2013 at the YWCA.
