CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Police were led on a strange chase Wednesday night, by a man they believe escaped from a local hospital.

The man crashed a vehicle into a home on Ray Drive near Baker Middle School at around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said they saw the man driving recklessly. They tried to get him to stop, but he wouldn't.

When police finally had the suspect in custody, they noticed he had electrodes stuck to his chest and hospital wrist bands.

At this time, police believe he escaped from a local hospital and stole the vehicle. Police are also looking into whether the man shoplifted some items from the Wal-Mart on Staples.

The man is facing charges of driving under the influence, but more offenses could be coming.
