CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Gumecindo Hernandez, 30, was arrested following a police chase Wednesday night.
It all began at around 8 p.m. when employees at the Wal-Mart on Staples called police to report a shoplifter who had gotten away with a pair of tennis shoes.
When police spotted the suspect's vehicle, he refused to stop. The car crashed into a home on Ray Drive, and Hernandez bailed on foot.
He was driving a vehicle that was stolen from Spohn Hospital, where he was a patient earlier in the day. He was arrested and is facing several charges, including evading arrest.
