More support for Kountze kids

Posted: Updated:

A judge on Thursday granted a temporary restraining order allowing students to display religious signs and banners at football games.  The ruling comes after the Kountz ISD informed students that such banners would be banned at school-sponsored functions.

Kountze fans and cheerleaders celebrated the ruling with a Scripture based run-through banner Thursday night at two middle school games.

One school administrator, who asked for anonymity, said he "couldn't find any fault" with what the cheerleaders have been doing.

Some students were sympathetic to what they called a "tough decision" on the part of Kountze ISD Superintendent Kevin Weldon.

A Facebook page called Support Kountze Kids Faith has drawn 36,000 followers in just a few days, and supporters plan a large demonstration at the October 5th high school game.
