In 46 days, we will not only get to choose a president, but here at home, Corpus Christi residents will choose a new mayor along with other key elections.
In order for constituents to know more about who they are electing, candidates took to the miniature golf course.
The Treasure Island Golf and Games Center on Padre Island played host to the second annual Putting with your Politicians event. It was also a fundraiser to help kids in at-risk situations explore career options.
"Well, everybody who is here has really commented on how easy it is to talk to folks," said Dr. Rich Hammons, founder of HELP. "This is not a standard wait until the dinners over, shake somebody's hand, murmur a meaningless chat and move on. This is where you get to putt against somebody. You get to know who they are."
Police Chief Floyd Simpson and Fire Chief Robert Rocha also took part in the event.
