Russell Sherman was promoted to the rank of captain by Corpus Christi Police Chief Floyd Simpson at a ceremony held at Police Headquarters on Friday.
Sherman has served as Adam District Captain for the past few months. He served four years in the U.S. Army, and was hired as a bike patrol officer by the CCPD in 1991. He earned a certificate of merit for his role in recovering submerged explosives in 2011 after joining the Corpus Christi Drive Team.
He is one of 15 CCPD officers with the rank of captain.
