A Port Arthur police spokesperson says a man's wounds are not life threatening in spite of the fact the man was shot in the head during a robbery.
The man told officers he was driving westbound in the 1700 block of Gulfway Drive Saturday afternoon when he noticed someone following him. He pulled over and four men got out of the other vehicle. The man said the men robbed him. He said he got into a struggle with one of the men who was attempting to take a cell phone. During the struggle the victim was shot in the back of the head.
The victim was able to drive to a relative's house after the robbery. From there he was taken to Renaissance Hospital in Groves. Police say the man is recovering this morning.
As of Monday morning, officers have not yet said if they have made any arrests.
