CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Local filmmakers and actors got their big screen debut as South Texas Underground Films showcased various international and independent films at the Art Center of Corpus Christi on Sunday.
It was the first time Corpus Christ has hosted an international film festival. During the festival, filmmakers got information on upcoming workshops that focus on film techniques. Organizers said local filmmakers really get a lot out of this festival.
"A festival like this is one of the most important things to help unify all the local filmmakers, and also expose them to other cultures and let us share our culture with them," said Ruben Barrera, sponsor of the South Texas Underground Film Festival.
Big screen actors like Richard Tyson, who is best known as the villain in kindergarten cop, as well as local actor Pepe Serna made an appearance.
