Abandoned rice dryer fire in Beaumont

Beaumont Firefighters scaled an approximately 10-story abandoned rice dryer to snuff out a fire in old town neighborhood Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the dryer located in the 1900 block of Angelina Street right before 1:30 p.m.

Officials say the fire was ignited by falling embers from construction workers cutting steel in the old building.

It took fire crews about an hour to get the fire contained.

There were no reports of injuries.
