It is one of the top schools in the city, and as it turns out, it is one of the top schools in the country as well.
John Paul II High School has been named one of the top 50 Catholic schools in the U.S., according to The Cardinal Newman Society.
The organization promotes Catholic education around the country.
John Paul II received top honors in academics, civic education and Catholic identity.
"It really shows what we are all about here," said Benjamin Nye, a teacher at John Paul II. "At the heart of the school is a mission to not only inform the kids with knowledge, but informing them within the faith, so that they come to know Jesus Christ and fall in love with him."
"The different part about our school is that we're actually a family here," said Rebecka Gonzales, a junior at John Paul II. "Everybody knows everybody. That is so awesome. It's so small. You have a chance of actually knowing your peers, unlike going to a huge school and not knowing everybody."
John Paul II has been serving the community since August of 2006.
