Tests Return Inconclusive on Recently Sighted Oil Clumps

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It was about two weeks ago when oil clumps were discovered on a stretch of beach on the Padre Island National Seashore.

Test results from U.S. Coast Guard labs in Connecticut have come back, and the results are inconclusive. According to researchers, the oil clumps have no source, which makes it highly unlikely that these were natural tar balls.

Crews are still monitoring the area for any other signs of these oil clumps. As of Tuesday, researchers said their best guess is that these clumps may be made of discharged oil from passing vessels.
