Small Concentrations of Red Tide Found in Coastal Bend Area

Posted: Updated:

Samples from the areas between the Harbor Bridge ship channel and the Cole Park Pier were tested on Tuesday, and concentrations of Red Tide cells were found.

Sighting of red colored streaks were reported to Texas Parks and Wildlife officials earlier in the week. Biologist Meredith Byrd confirmed the results of their tests.

Officials said that they are very low concentrations of Red Tide, and they believe that the cells are coming into the ship channel from the Port Aransas jetties.

Texas Parks and Wildlife will be monitoring the situation. For more information, you can click here and visit their Web site.
