Officer Resigns in Connection with McChester Investigation

A Corpus Christi Police Department officer resigned this week, in connection with an investigation of a former officer who was convicted of sexual assault of a minor earlier this year.

Back in June, former officer Robert McChester pled guilty to solicitation of a minor by use of telephone and the Internet, and enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.

In the course of the police's internal investigation on McChester, they discovered that another officer, 27-year old Justyn John Luera, allegedly went to McChester's home and removed a cell phone. He then disposed of it by throwing it on the roof of McChester's home.

At this time, it is unclear whether it was the phone that McChester used to contact the minor in question.

Luera resigned on Monday, before the investigation into his involvement was complete. Because of that resignation, police have stopped their investigation on him.

    Firefighters were called out Tuesday afternoon to the the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina, in the 700 block of Shoreline Boulevard.The entire hotel was evacuated and Corpus Christi police were dispatched to assist firefighters with traffic control.
