Copano Bay Causeway Project About 25-Percent Done

ARANSAS COUNTY (Kiii News) -

A nearly $100 million construction project in Aransas County is now about 25-percent complete.

The Texas Department of Transportation is replacing and improving the Copano Bay Causeway on State Highway 35 in Aransas County, as well as making safety improvements at nearby intersections. Some support pilings for the new bridge were brought in from a barge on Friday.

Work on the project began in August of 2011, and is expected to take about three and a half years.
