Construction officially began on Wednesday on a $3.9 million renovation project at Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
Community members, donors and hospital leaders took sledge hammers in a ceremonial swing to get the emergency room expansion project underway.
"We are so blessed and excited to see our emergency department renovated and transformed into a modern, more advanced emergency care area that is here for our community," said Pamela Robertson, CEO and President of Christus Spohn Health System. "This also shows that through us, working together, we can accomplish great things."
Nearly 18,000 patients are served in their emergency room every year.
