30-Year Old Man Arrested For Shooting At IHOP

Occurred Thursday, October 04, 2012, 2:26am, 5202 South Padre Island Drive, Aggravated Assault

Two men suffered by gunshot wounds Thursday morning at the parking lot of the IHOP located at 5202 South Padre Island Drive.

A 32-year-old man and a 21-year-old man arrived in the parking lot of the IHOP at about 2:25am on Thursday morning when two vehicles stopped behind their parked vehicle. A man said something to the 32-year-old man then presented a pistol and discharged the firearm.

The 32-year-old man and the 21-year-old man were both injured by the gunfire and were taken to the hospital by ambulance. One of the victims told Corpus Christi Police who was responsible for the attack. Corpus Christi Police went to a suspect's house on the 900 block of Shiels and located the suspect.

Corpus Christi Police brought several people in for questioning in relation to this aggravated assault and do not currently have any other suspect at large. 30-year-old Juan Duenes was arrested for this aggravated assault which is a 2nd degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Investigators said they believe the assault is gang related.

Both the 32-year-old man and the 21-year-old man are expected to recover from their injuries.
