CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Golfers hit the course on Friday to have some fun and to help out a good cause.

It was the 17th annual Driscoll Children's Hospital Golf Classic, an 18-hole scramble that took place at the Corpus Christi Country Club. All proceeds from the event go to help the hospital continue provide the best care possible for South Texas pediatric patients.

"There is no way Driscoll would exist without the widespread community support, and it's just inspiring to see how many people have been touched," said Martha St. Romain with Driscoll Children's Hospital. "I hear stories as we register the golfers that they've either had children or grandchildren that have been helped out by Driscoll. So there are a lot of real passionate supporters out here today."

A sold out field of about 130 golfers took part in Friday's event.
