There were so many pink mustaches inside Council Chambers on Tuesday, that Mayor Joe Adame said, "I do hereby proclaim October the 12th, 2012, as Pink Mustaches for Josie Day."
Local Dr. George Benavides is the driving force behind the effort. He dyed his own mustache pink on Tuesday in honor of his sister, Josie. She died 20 years ago from breast cancer.
Benavides and other healthcare professionals from the Thomas Spann Clinic and Radiology Associates showed up at City Hall Tuesday to hear the mayor proclaim this Friday as Pink Mustaches for Josie Day.
Organizers said, on that day, a thousand men will be asked to dye their mustaches pink and donate $100 to the American Cancer Society.
