A local artist and business owner said he wants to generate community support for improvements to the skatepark at Cole Park.
Christopher Anderson is an avid skateboarder himself. He said he knows the park needs some fixing, which is why he has started working with the City and is trying to come up with a plan.
So far, his ideas include painting a mural on the concrete, adding some shade and even water fountains.
"It's a big city for one small park and it gets overcrowded, and there are a lot of hazards and dangers for little kids that utilize the parks," Anderson said. "I want to improve that and make it more user friendly."
"We are really excited that someone has taken interest and is partnering with the Parks Department like we have in other parks throughout the community," Assistant Parks Director Stacie Talbert said. "It's going to be a good thing."
Anderson said he plans to take his proposals to City Council, but he is asking for help and input from the public.
