At the Nueces County Courthouse, the capital murder case against 23-year old Carlos Gonzales got underway on Thursday.
Gonzales is being retried after his conviction was overturned by an appellate court.
It was back in 2008 that Gonzales was found guilty, along with a 22-year old accomplice Pablo Padilla, of killing and robbing 22-year old Victor Morales.
It happened in 2007, in the 700 block of Westchester. At the time, the jury didn't believe Gonzales' story that he waited in a car while Padilla killed the victim. Gonzales was sentenced to life in prison.
