CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It was an exciting day for a local Baptist church Thursday. The First Baptist Church on Ocean Drive now has a new guest welcome center.
The new addition was unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday. Church officials said the church is over 60 years old, and the previous design didn't allow for congregation and fellowship.
"We just needed a place for people to feel comfortable and hang out," Pastor Ronny Marriott said. "Have some coffee, and relax between services. Or, if they get here early, just kind of a place for people to gather and fellowship together."
The renovations cost $400,000, and the church raised all funding for the project.
