A tractor-trailer was struck by a train Friday near US 90 and Meeker Road. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Rod Carroll says a deputy witnessed the truck get stuck on the tracks before the accident. Deputy Carroll says this is a no-thru area, meaning the truck was not allowed to use this road.
The engineer saw the truck and tried to stop, but was unable.
The driver of the truck was able to get out before the collision.
