Second Time this Week Officer Hit During Funeral Procession

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

For the second time this week, a police officer working a funeral procession was in an accident Friday.

It happened at the intersection of Rand Morgan and Up River Road. A driver turned into the procession and tried to make a turn, cutting off an officer on a motorcycle.

"People out there need to be aware, you just can't cut into a funeral procession," said Lt. Arturo Trevino of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "It is a violation of the state law."

Luckily, the officer sustained no injuries.

Investigators on scene said new CCPD equipment actually saved his foot from serious injury. The boots he was wearing have extra safety protection.
