A Beaumont man is in jail charged with the robbery a Wendy's restaurant.
The robbery happened just before 3 a.m. Saturday. An employee of the restaurant said she had just closed the store and was walking to her car when a gunman wearing pantyhose over his face walked up to her. She said the man took her purse and ran toward Fannin Street.
Officers say the victim was not injured in the robbery.
Members of the Beaumont SWAT team, acting on a tip, executed a search warrant in the 1100 block of Goliad Saturday afternoon. Police say the man believed to be the robber was not home at the time, but they did find evidence linking him to the crime.
The man was later taken into custody at a non-disclosed location.
Officers identify the man they arrested as Jamie Terrell Costley, 29,, of Beaumont. Police say Costley gave a sworn confession and was taken to the Jefferson County jail.
