Pregnant woman struck crossing Beaumont street

Beaumont police say a pregnant woman had to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency cesarean section after she was struck by a passing car Sunday night.

The accident was reported around 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Washington Boulevard. Investigators say the woman was struck as she attempted to cross the road.

The mother sustained facial injuries and is listed in stable condition at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

Police say the driver stopped and helped the victim. No charges have been filed.
