BISD school board considers lawsuit over seized Walker's Electric Company funds

Trustees with the Beaumont Independent School District this week will discuss filing a claim with the US government for forfeited funds seized from Walker's Electric Company.

Electrician Calvin Walker accepted a plea deal with the US Attorney's Office. He was originally accused of over billing BISD nearly $4,000,000.

Walker pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of failure to pay taxes in a timely manner, so 37 charges of fraud involving his work with BISD were dropped.

Board members are set to discuss their next action on Thursday.
