Open enrollment for Medicare is underway, and lots of folks might be wondering what works best for their medical coverage.
"There's a lot of people that don't know, and it really helps," said Jose Flores, who learned about Medicare benefits at Tuesday's one-day Open Enrollment Clinic, an event held at Del Mar College to help seniors better understand their benefits.
Senior Community Services, in partnership with the Coastal Bend Area Agency on Aging, wanted to reach out to new enrollees who might find the process and the numerous options confusing.
"It is complicated. It's a complicated web we weave. So one-on-one assistance is really good," said Betty Lamb of the Area Agency on Aging. "You can get really good assistance from Medicare and Social Security, but it's usually on the phone; but if you want local one-on-one, you can get that right here in Corpus Christi and throughout the Coastal Bend."
