CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Those frustrating Monday mornings at the Nueces County Courthouse for prospective jurors will be changing.
Oct. 22 will usher in the new two-day jury selection process, meaning prospective jurors will be summoned to report either on a Monday or a Tuesday.
The judges at the courthouse developed the plan to help ease overcrowding.
"There has been significant overcrowding downstairs, where people have had to stand against the walls," 117th District Court Judge Sandra Watts said. "We can't put everybody in chairs, and there's always a parking problem on Mondays."
On the jury summons you receive in your mailbox, the information as to what date, day and time to report is located right under the Candidate ID number.
The additional day of jury selection is all part of the eventual E-Response email summons system, which the county plans to have in place by Jan. 1, 2013.
