CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Protecting seniors and their money from scam artists was the purpose of the second annual Financial Exploitation Awareness Expo Tuesday at the Greenwood Senior Center.
"October is National Financial Exploitation Month, and we come out and give a lot of information to our elderly so that they can be aware that, at their age, they are targeted for financial exploitation," said Elizabeth Vega of Adult Protective Services.
Seniors learned valuable information like how to pick a legitimate home care provider, and how to spot a phone or door-to-door scam. Attendees also received a goodie bag filled with helpful information to keep them safe.
The event was put on by Adult Protective Services.
