CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Representatives from Valero Corpus Christi handed out hundreds of thousands of dollars to 40 local charities on Tuesday.

The company donated more than $350,000 to many worthy charities, with one goal: to help South Texas children.

Organizations such as the Corpus Christi Police Athletic League, CASA of the Coastal Bend and Driscoll Children's Hospital were given anywhere from $9,000-$25,000, which is the amount donated to the Children's Advocacy Center.

"It is a tremendous help to us," said Mindy Jimenez, executive director of the Children's Advocacy Center. "All of our services are free of charge to all the families and children that we see every year, so this helps us to keep our doors open so that we don't have to end up asking for fees from the children and the families that come to us."

All the money donated was actually raised at the 2012 Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children Golf Classic, which raised more than $9 million for charities all over the country.
