Local Attorney Arrested After Pulling Over Off-Duty Officer
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A local attorney is behind bars after the Corpus Christi Police Department said he tried to pull over one of their own.
Mark Steven Byrne, 60, allegedly tried to pull over an off-duty police officer just after 10 p.m. Thursday.
The officer was traveling eastbound on SPID near Airline when he noticed a spotlight coming from a Crown Victoria, a model similar to what police officers drive. Byrne kept shining the spotlight at the off-duty officer's rear view mirrors and waving at him to pull over.
Meanwhile, the off-duty officer alerted his colleagues, and Byrne was arrested. So far he is charged with reckless driving, but police are also conducting an investigation into whether or not he was impersonating an officer.
