Lots of strikes and only a few gutter balls can describe the scene at Saratoga Lanes bowling alley.  It's all part of the Special Olympics bowling tournament.

Since Thursday, special Olympians from all over the area have been participating in the event.

Bowlers as young eight years old competed in the event.Winners will compete at the Winter Games at the state capital, which will be held in January.

Special Olympics Area Director Alice Fulton Garza says, "that everyone is having fun and it is all is due to the hard work done by the coaches, the time that they put into their training.

The Special Olympics changes lives through the power of sport by encouraging and empowering people with intellectual disabilities promoting acceptance for all and fostering communities of understanding and respect.
