CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It was time to fly the coup for three owls that were on the mend at the Texas State Aquarium. The three were set free Monday afternoon at the Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge on Ennis Joslin.

Two of the Great Horned Owls were found in Flour Bluff in March of this year. The other was found at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in May. For the last few months, the three have been at an outdoor flight enclosure at the Aquarium's wildlife rehabilitation program.

"They must have fallen out of their nest. They were not quite ready to fly, so they were basically orphans at the time they were brought to us," said Kelley Shutt of the Texas State Aquarium. "We finished raising them. They are able to fly, and eat live pray, and they are ready to go."
