Food Bank Ready to Feed 1,000 Families on Thanksgiving
ARANSAS PASS (Kiii News) -
The holiday season is about to kick off, with Thanksgiving just a week away, but the spirit of the holiday is already fully on display.
"There's no explanation of how you feel when you're helping someone in need," said Deacon Tony Postert of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Aransas Pass.
Postert was at the Food Bank of Corpus Christi Tuesday morning picking up boxes full of turkeys and trimmings. Two truckloads of food were distributed in the afternoon to 50 families in Aransas Pass.
It is churches like these that help get the food out to families who need it and can't travel to Corpus Christi.
"Like Ingleside, Aransas Pass, all those small communities that don't have access like Corpus Christi, we are able to bring the food to them as we saw today," said Bea Hanson of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.
With the help of the community, the Food Bank has collected enough turkeys and trimmings to feed a thousand families this holiday season.
