CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

We all know energy bills can get costly, especially for area non-profits; but on Tuesday, those groups received some major help, courtesy of CPL Retail Energy.

"We're offering money to non-profit organizations who support their local community to reduce their electricity use," said Rob Comstock of CPL.

The company handed out more than $22,000 as part of their 2012 Reduce Your Use grants. The money will be used to buy energy efficient products, such as refrigerators, freezers and thermostats, just to name a few.

Nine organizations from Alice, Aransas Pass, Corpus Christi and Palacios received grants on Tuesday.
