Police Find Drugs while Responding to Domestic Violence Call

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Corpus Christi Police Department officers came across a cache of drugs and two wanted gang members after responding to a case of domestic violence Wednesday night.

Investigators said they discovered over three pounds of marijuana inside a home just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, on 200 West Vanderbilt Drive near Ayers.

They were discovered after a family dispute between a boyfriend and his girlfriend.

After obtaining a warrant to search the home, officers found half an ounce of cocaine and almost two ounces of heroin inside the home. Officers said the drugs had a total street value over $2,500.

"I think it is a very good, significant bust," CCPD Gang Unit Captain Mersing said. "There is no further violence from anybody else."

Mersing believes that the drugs were just recently purchased with the intent to redistribute.
