King Mustangs Hope For First Playoff Win Since 2003

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The King Mustangs are hoping to reverse their recent playoff fortune and build a little tradition in the process when they take on San Antonio Brandeis in the postseason opener for the third straight year.

The 2012 version of the Mustangs already made school history when they made the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Coach Eddie Hesseltine says that is hopefully only the first step of many for a school not traditionally known for it's football prowess.

King's greatest playoff success came in 2003 when the Mustangs made the regional round. Hesseltine knows the talent is there for the future if he can continue to groom the freshman and junior varsity teams.

The Mustangs will hope to advance that tradition a step further Friday when they face Brandeis at 7:30 pm at S.A. Farris Stadium. 3Sports will have highlights on the Friday Night Sports Blitz!
