It was career day at Orange Grove High School this Friday, and students there had the chance to learn about all sorts of different professions.
The career counselor that organizes the event said it provides a real education for students, and gives them a chance to meet people from all walks of life, both in and out of the community. It also gives kids options for college and a career.
It is a chance for students to come to face-to-face with all sorts of different professionals, from police officers to lawyers, to doctors and more. The students gain valuable information and it helps give them a better idea of what they may choose to do.
"I went to a lot of different things today," freshman Jessica Salinas said. "Cosmetology. I think I'm going to end up doing that. I don't know. It seems a lot of fun to do."
"My goal is to have the students become more aware of the careers that are out there, and also the colleges in the surrounding areas," Counselor Ann Leal said. "To know what kind of careers that they want to pursue, and what kind of majors that they want to major in when they're in college."
The students asked a lot of great questions.
