Construction of a new sports complex at the Annapolic Christian Academy is set to begin soon.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday afternoon at the Academy, located off of South Staples. More than 200 people were in attendance.
The new gymnasium will provide a home court for the Annapolis volleyball and basketball teams.
Administrators said the new gym will have a great impact on the current and future students at Annapolis.
"We need the gymnasium to grow our programs, and support our sports teams," said Tonya Weber of the Annapolis Christian Academy.
The project is expected to be completed in the spring of next year.
