Friday Night Sports Blitz- Part I Nov. 16th

Posted: Updated:

Corpus Christi (Kiii Sports)- Friday Night Sports Blitz Part 1-

With the exception of the Sinton Pirates, every other area playoff team spent Week 1 of the postseason on the road. Let's begin in San Antonio as the Calallen Wildcats took on Medina Valley, which would up tied for first in District 29-4A. Both teams run a very similar version of the winged T, so it was tough sledding for both offenses early on. The Wildcats would give up a rare kick return for a touchdown and then pulled away to a 27-14 win.

As we mentioned, Sinton played the only home game of the evening as the Pirates hosted Lytle. After being upset in round one of the playoffs last season, Sinton made sure history did not repeat itself with a convincing 53-16 win.

District 30-4A champion Port Lavaca played Floresville in Calallen. The Sandcrabs made themselves at home on enemy turf as they crunched Floresville 48-21.

The move from Class 4A to Class 3A seems to be working out very well for the Kingsville Brahmas. After winning District 31-3A, it off to Brownsville and a bi-district showdown with Hidalgo. This game turned into a shoot out, and Kingsville had just enough offensive ammunition to advance with a 58-41 victory.
