Experian Marketing Services released its CEI (Consumer Expectation Index) report showing most confidence in the economy since before the recession. A clothing industry insider discusses what this may mean to the one-price clothing market, Discount Retail Store Services reports.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 17, 2012
Consumer confidence is up in nearly every area according to a recent report by Experian Marketing Services, their Consumer Expectation Index. The comprehensive study compiles information based on surveys over a period of time across different areas of retail. Nearly every area studied showed significant increase over last year’s figures including the number of consumers planning to buy a new home is the highest since before 2008. Those intending to refinance a home are up 5% from last year. Those planning to buy or lease a new automobile are at its highest since before 2008. Online purchases are up more than 2% from last year.
According to Bill Trancer, general manager of global research for Experian Marketing Services, these are all great signs that the coming holiday season is going to be a big one. The CEI tends to peak at its highest at this time each year. “The figures are pointing to increased optimism as we head into the 2012 holiday season.”
Terrence Teo, General Manager of $10 Clothing Stores, has reason to believe that the clothing industry will benefit even more than other areas of retail during the holidays, “This time of year is always great for the clothing industry, but we expect this year to be even better for our store owners given all of the current consumer confidence numbers. It’s a fact, if people are confident enough to buy a house or a car, they’re confident enough to spend a little more on clothing for themselves and as gifts during the holidays. We’re looking forward to it and we know our store owners are as well.”
