Saturday Playoff Football: GP Advances Past Uvalde, Odem Falls to Luling

Posted: Updated:

SAN ANTONIO (Kiii Sports) - It was a great Saturday away from home for the G-P Wildcats as they stomped Uvalde 66-27, but not so much for the Odem Owls who fell to Luling 39-7 to end their season.

G-P came out firing, with senior Devin Bisby scoring on the opening drive, and the Wildcats never looked back. After a couple of touchdowns off interceptions, G-P jumped out to a 28-0 1st quarter lead and coasted their way to a bi-district victory. The Wildcats will get Ray in the area round Saturday at 1 pm at Buc Stadium.

It was a different story for the Odem Owls, who fell behind Luling 27-0 over in Beeville before getting on the board in the 2nd quarter for their first and only score of the game. Senior quarterback Jake Ray hit Hunter Rodriguez for the touchdown just before the half. The Owls couldn't muster any second offense as the Eagles clamped down to hold on for the win.
