Special interest blog Philosophy & Truth announced recently that writer Phin Upham has been named its newest featured author. Some of Upham’s numerous published essays have been previously featured on the site. Upham has an MBA and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and currently works as a hedge fund investor, specializing in macroeconomics and technology. He has written for the Harvard Review of Philosophy and served as Editor-in-Chief for three volumes from 1998 to 2000. He also edited a widely published compilation of interviews entitled Philosophers in Conversation, which contains one of the few known interviews given by John Rawls.
Philosophy & Truth has chosen Upham as a featured author based on his background of engaging writing on subjects such as reason, consciousness, and the mind. His writing can be found in numerous scholarly journals, and his editorial contributions have been translated and republished internationally. The editors of the blog also cite his extensive record of community service, including major community outreach in West Philadelphia as the youngest member of the Board of the University of Pennsylvania Museum’s Young Friends. Upham has also shown educational leadership by overseeing all graduate student involvement in the museum.
