Power Surge Sparks Fires in Flour Bluff

Posted: Updated:

A power surge led to three separate fires in the Flour Bluff area on Tuesday.

It all happened around 11 a.m., when a power surge caused a power line to drop in the 300 block of Knickerbocker Street. That started a grass fire there, while sparks also caused brush fires nearby in the 300 block of Graham and the 1200 block of Laguna Shores.

It took crews about 30 minutes to get everything under control. Investigators are still looking at what caused the surge.
