Woman Struck by Vehicle While Running Across Highway
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A pedestrian was run over just after 4 a.m. Friday outside the Plaza Motel in Flour Bluff, at SPID and O'Connell near the JFK Causeway.
According to police, a 29-year old woman was upset about not being able to see her kids. Investigators said she took off running across the highway, and was struck by a vehicle. They are still trying to determine if the woman was intentionally trying to hurt herself.
"She ended up running outside, jumping over the barrier and got struck by a vehicle," said Lt. R. Alvarado of the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Police have not released the woman's name, but they said she was immediately rushed into surgery.
The driver was pulled over near the JFK turnaround, and told officers he did not realize he had hit anyone. He was taken in for a mandatory blood draw to determine if any alcohol was in his system. It will be weeks before the results are in.
